How replacement claims are classified

Replacement Intelligence publishes the claim the source actually supports. A cross-reference, dimensional interchange, functional interchange, and manufacturer successor are not treated as the same thing.

Source hierarchy

Manufacturer product pages, manuals, lifecycle notices, engineering tables and official cross-reference material are the preferred sources. Distributor documentation can supplement model specifications and sourcing evidence, but secondary sources alone do not create a verified replacement relationship.

Replacement evidence types

Explicit manufacturer interchangeThe manufacturer explicitly marks a competitor row as interchangeable. Exact configuration and application checks still apply.

Dimensional interchangeThe manufacturer publishes a dimensional-interchange or dimensional-comparison table. This does not prove identical ratings or duty.

Functional interchangeThe manufacturer states that the target is functionally interchangeable with listed drives, while requiring ratings and dimensions to be verified.

Published cross-referenceThe source and target appear in the same manufacturer-published cross-reference row. Treat it as a qualified replacement lead.

Published selectionThe manufacturer publishes the target for a stated competitor size, ratio, or duty point.

Comparison guideThe manufacturer publishes the models together in an interchange/comparison guide that may include mounting or configuration caveats.

Verified successorA manufacturer source documents a later model as the successor. A successor can require physical or configuration changes and is not automatically a drop-in swap.

Model-specific vs family-wide data

Model-level values are stored separately from family-wide ranges. A family torque or ratio range is labeled as family-wide and should never be interpreted as the configured value of every model in that family.

Group transitions

When a manufacturer announces that a legacy family transitions to several newer models without mapping them one-to-one, the site stores a transition notice rather than inventing individual compatibility edges.

Indexing standard

Verified model identities can remain searchable internally before they qualify for indexing. Model pages require meaningful model-level specification evidence; replacement pages require a published directional relationship or a verified manufacturer successor. Thin placeholder pages are not intentionally indexed.

Safety boundary

This database is a sourcing and research aid, not an engineering approval. Before purchase, confirm the installed application against current manufacturer documentation: ratio and speed, torque and service factor, input/output geometry, mounting, motor interface, accessories, environment, lubrication, and any source-specific caveat.
