LG dishwasher IE error: water-fill checks before service
An LG dishwasher IE alert means the tub did not fill with enough water. Begin with the household supply and recent installation history. The code narrows the checks but cannot identify a failed inlet valve, sensor or control by itself.
Safety boundary
- Stop use for active leaks. Shut off an accessible water supply only if safe; keep away from wet electrical connections.
- Owner checks are limited to visible observations and components explicitly user-accessible in the exact model manual. Do not remove panels, dry a base pan, bypass a sensor or test live wiring.
The dishwasher has not received enough water to fill as expected.
LG US dishwashers listing IE in their model documentation; do not transfer this meaning to another brand or to an LG washer.Checks in order
- 01
Read IE carefully and check the exact model manual. E1 belongs to the separate leak-warning path.
- 02
Check whether household water is available and whether recent installation, plumbing work or a supply interruption coincided with the alert.
- 03
Observe the accessible dishwasher supply shutoff and visible hose routing. Follow the owner manual; do not move the unit to reach a hidden valve or hose.
- 04
If a visible pinch or closed supply cannot be addressed within safe owner access, use the installer or plumber. Do not disconnect the inlet hose, remove a screen or adjust pressure using this guide.
- 05
For persistent IE, capture the model, code timing and completed observations for LG service. Supply restrictions and internal faults need model-specific diagnosis before a part is selected.
Does IE prove the inlet valve is bad?
No. LG discusses supply availability, hose restrictions, inlet-filter conditions and pressure in its fill guidance. The code alone cannot separate those possibilities from an internal fault. Replacing a valve solely because IE appears skips the supply check.
What changes after a new installation?
Give the installer the exact model and alert. A supply valve left closed or a visible hose pinch is actionable installation evidence. Hidden connections, inlet screens and pressure measurements require the applicable installation instructions and a person qualified to use them.
