Samsung dishwasher LC or LE code: leak alert checks

Samsung uses LC or LE when the dishwasher detects a leak condition. A dry floor does not clear the alert. Record the code and any recent installation or detergent change, stop unsafe operation, and use the checks below to prepare a useful service report.

Safety boundary

  • Stop use for active leaks. Shut off an accessible water supply only if safe; keep away from wet electrical connections.
  • Owner checks are limited to visible observations and components explicitly user-accessible in the exact model manual. Do not remove panels, dry a base pan, bypass a sensor or test live wiring.
Displayed codeLC / LE

Leak detection has activated. The dishwasher may run its drain function automatically; that behavior does not identify the leaking component.

Samsung US dishwashers whose exact model documentation lists LC or LE; Waterwall observations apply only to Waterwall models.

Checks in order

  1. 01

Photograph LC or LE and record the complete model number. Note visible water, recent installation, sink/disposal work or detergent changes.

  2. 02

If water is escaping, stop using the dishwasher and follow the safety boundary. Do not run a test cycle to see whether the alert clears.

  3. 03

Without moving the appliance, observe accessible supply connections for moisture and any detergent spilled outside the dispenser. A recent disposal connection deserves installer review of the connection and cap.

  4. 04

On a confirmed Waterwall model only, check whether loaded items visibly obstruct the reflector according to the owner manual. This is a loading check, not permission to reach the base-pan sensor.

  5. 05

Arrange service if the alert persists or its cause is unclear. Share the observations; repeated resets or drying the detector do not repair the source of moisture.

Why is LC showing when there is no visible leak?

Samsung provides a separate path for LC/LE with no visible water. The alert concerns detected moisture, so the absence of a floor puddle cannot establish that operation is safe. A recent connection or detergent spill is useful context, but it is not a diagnosis.

Why does the dishwasher keep trying to drain?

Samsung describes automatic draining during this alert, sometimes while the unit will not respond normally to being turned off. Record that behavior for service. Do not use a reset, sensor bypass or base-pan drying as a substitute for resolving the leak condition.

What should the service report include?

  • Full model number and displayed LC/LE code
  • Visible water location, if any, without reaching inside panels
  • Whether the drain runs continuously and when the alert appeared
  • Recent installation, disposal connection, loading or detergent changes
