Bosch range hood grease filter care: wash the metal filter safely
Bosch says to turn the ventilation off, remove the metal filter according to the owner manual, wash with warm soapy water and a soft cloth, dry thoroughly, and reinstall. Bosch says metal filters may also be washed in a dishwasher, though discoloration can occur. This applies to compatible metal grease filters; it does not clean or replace a charcoal odor filter.
Safety boundary
- Turn the hood off before removing a filter.
- Do not reach into fan blades or remove electrical covers.
- Do not operate without the required grease filters fitted.
Procedure
- Identify the filter and turn the hood off
Use the exact hood manual to confirm the removable metal grease filter and release. Switch the ventilation off before handling it.
- Wash gently
Bosch recommends warm soapy water and a soft cloth. Bosch also permits dishwasher cleaning for its metal filter guidance, with possible discoloration; consult the model manual before machine washing.
- Dry and reinstall
Let the filter dry thoroughly, then reinstall it in the orientation shown in the exact manual before operating the hood.
- Escalate a damaged filter
If the filter is bent, will not latch, or the fan still performs poorly, find the exact replacement through the hood model number or contact service.
Metal grease filter care
Bosch recommends mild soapy water and a soft cloth, followed by complete drying. Bosch says its metal filters can be washed in a dishwasher but discoloration may occur.
The hood manual controls removal and reinstallation because filter latches and shapes differ by model.
Grease and odor filters do different jobs
A metal grease filter captures cooking grease. A charcoal filter handles odor in a recirculating configuration and has a separate replacement schedule; washing the metal filter does not renew charcoal media.
Do not infer that the hood vents outdoors from its appearance. Check installation mode and manual before ordering any filter.
