Chamberlain B1381 remote and sensor compatibility: check the lock-capable model
Chamberlain's B1381 User's Guide names Security+ 2.0 and a yellow Learn button and tells owners to check Chamberlain's remote/keyless-entry chart. Its exact B1381 parts page lists sensor eyes/brackets 041-0365-000, 2021-plus sensor kit 041-0136, and newer brackets 041-0155-000. Chamberlain says 041-0155-000 brackets are only compatible with 041-0136 sensors, not older sensor generations. Treat a Security+ 2.0 remote or keypad as a protocol match, then verify the exact accessory/chart and opener label; do not confuse lock-capable B1381 with B1381T or infer a logic-board replacement from an ambiguous part listing.
Safety boundary
- Keep people, pets, and vehicles clear of the moving door; use the exact manual for owner-level operating and safety-reversal checks.
- Never bypass, disconnect, tape over, or defeat the photoelectric sensors or automatic-reversal system. Stop using the opener if a safety device is absent, damaged, or not working.
- Limit owner checks to reading the opener/accessory labels, checking accessory batteries per their manuals, and observing a visible sensor obstruction or indicator state without opening the powerhead or changing wiring.
- Do not touch or adjust springs, lift cables, drums, door balance, tracks, or high-force hardware. Stop and contact a qualified garage-door technician if the door binds, hangs crooked, feels heavy, or has a broken spring/cable.
Compatibility requires a direct model listing, explicit supersession, or equivalent manufacturer evidence.
Required identifiers
- Complete opener model exactly as printed: B1381, B1381T, B1381C, or another model string must not be silently normalized
- Remote/keypad model number and code type, especially Security+ 2.0 support
- Safety sensor label and bracket style, if safely visible
- Serial/manufacture details and exact B1381 parts diagram when the listed sensor-generation part differs from the installed assembly
Compatibility rules
- The OEM B1381/B1381T User's Guide identifies Security+ 2.0 and yellow Learn button for this family; it explicitly says B1381 is lock-capable and B1381T is not.
- Chamberlain directs B1381 owners to its remote/keyless-entry compatibility chart. Chamberlain's G953EV-P2 remote and G940EV-P2 keypad product pages list Security+ 2.0 support. This establishes a protocol match, not an exact B1381-to-SKU fitment list; confirm the exact accessory on the current OEM chart before ordering.
- The exact B1381 parts page lists 041-0365-000 sensor eyes/brackets, 041-0136 sensor kit, and 041-0155-000 sensor brackets among parts for B1381.
- The 041-0155-000 manufacturer page states these brackets are only compatible with sensor kit 041-0136 and are not compatible with older sensor generations. Do not pair these newer brackets with a different sensor based on visual fit.
- A Chamberlain support note lists 050DCTBLK as the updated B1381 logic board and 050DCTB for B1381T, while the B1381 product page's parts diagram lists 050DCTBFMC. The reviewed OEM pages therefore show multiple board identifiers; exact board supersession/revision applicability remains unresolved here and should be checked against serial/model-specific support before ordering.
Never assume
- B1381, B1381C, and B1381T are equivalent parts fitments; the OEM guide distinguishes the lock-capable B1381 from the non-lock-capable B1381T
- Any yellow-button accessory works solely because the Learn button is yellow
- 041-0155-000 is an older universal bracket; Chamberlain limits it to sensor kit 041-0136
- The B1381 logic-board numbers displayed in separate OEM source views are interchangeable or a proven supersession chain
- A sensor compatibility receipt proves correct remote/keypad or logic-board fitment
- A remote or keypad symptom proves the opener board failed
B1381 is a distinct lock-capable model
Chamberlain's model support page identifies B1381 and B1381T as related guide coverage, but explicitly distinguishes them: B1381 is lock-capable, while B1381T is not and has a different logic-board part number. The B1381 parts page separately shows the exact B1381 product/parts diagram. Preserve the complete label, including any trailing C or T; do not order by the shared B1381 family name alone.
The support page's update notice lists 050DCTBLK for B1381 and 050DCTB for B1381T; the B1381 replacement-parts page displays 050DCTBFMC in its parts diagram. Because these OEM pages differ, this record flags the board ID as unresolved rather than asserting a supersession or directing an owner to replace a board.
Match radio accessories by B1381's protocol
The B1381 User's Guide states Security+ 2.0 technology and a yellow Learn button. It directs owners to Chamberlain's remote/keyless-entry compatibility chart. Chamberlain currently lists Security+ 2.0 support for remote G953EV-P2 and keypad G940EV-P2, so those are protocol-match candidates. The cited product pages do not individually name B1381; confirm the full model on the OEM compatibility chart and follow each accessory's own manual before ordering or programming.
A remote/keypad that lights up, has three buttons, or looks like an old accessory is not a fitment test. Check the accessory model label and its documented code types.
Use the exact sensor-generation receipt
Chamberlain's B1381 parts page lists 041-0365-000 sensor eyes/brackets, 041-0136 safety-sensor kit, and 041-0155-000 brackets. The 041-0155-000 manufacturer part page limits those brackets to the newer 041-0136 sensor kit and expressly excludes older sensor generations. This makes the two newer components a generation-matched set; it does not make every older 041-0365-000 configuration interchangeable with them.
The parts list also includes a required safety system. If the installed sensors, wires, or brackets differ from the listed assembly, use the full B1381 model lookup or an authorized service source rather than inferring compatibility from connector shape.
Safe checks when access stops working
- Record B1381 and every suffix exactly as printed, plus remote/keypad model and visible sensor labels.
- Check the remote/keypad battery only as its accessory manual directs; use the B1381 guide and Chamberlain's compatibility chart for programming guidance.
- Observe whether there is a visible obstruction at the sensor lenses and note indicator status without moving wiring or opening covers.
- If the door does not reverse safely, the sensors are damaged, or the opener behaves unpredictably, stop operation and request qualified service rather than bypassing safety devices.
