Replacing legacy Dodge SCXT 3, 4, 5 and 5A reducers

Dodge documents clear successor generations for these screw-conveyor reducers, but this is not a reducer-only drop-in swap: the redesigned output hub does not fit the older drive shaft.

What changedWhy the old shaft does not fit
Legacy SCXT design
  • SCXT 3, 4 and 5/5A used an output hub that was flush with the reducer housing.
  • The original screw-conveyor drive shafts were dimensioned around that older hub arrangement.
Current SCXT design
  • SCXT 3B, 4B and 5C use the later extended output-hub design.
  • Dodge states the current reducers are not compatible with the older drive shafts.
Correct replacement workflowDo not order the reducer alone
1. Identify generationConfirm whether the installed reducer is SCXT 3, 4, 5/5A or a later B/C model.
2. Inspect the drive shaftIf the old reducer has been removed but the existing screw-conveyor shaft remains, do not assume the current reducer will slide onto it.
3. Select the current reducerUse SCXT 3B for legacy 3, SCXT 4B for legacy 4, and SCXT 5C for legacy 5/5A.
4. Match current shaft hardwareUse the correct current-generation drive-shaft arrangement and verify the adapter assembly before installation.
5. Recheck applicationConfirm ratio, screw-conveyor torque, mounting, accessories, lubrication and operating environment.
Why Replacement Intelligence marks these “modified”: the manufacturer documents the successor generation, but also documents a physical incompatibility that prevents a reducer-only drop-in replacement.
