Bosch dishwasher E24: what the drain error means
E24 narrows the problem to drainage, but it does not identify one failed component. Bosch lists blocked drainage, a loose pump cover, a blocked pump path, and a kinked hose among the checks, so diagnosis should follow the water path before part selection.
Safety boundary
- Disconnect electrical power before opening the filter or pump-cover area.
- Allow hot water to cool and remove standing water carefully.
- Do not reach into the pump area without protection from glass or other sharp debris.
The dishwasher has detected a drainage problem. The code is not proof that the drain pump must be replaced.

Do not infer from E24 alone
E24 reports the system outcome—a failed drain—not the root cause. A blocked filter, loose cover, hose restriction, downstream obstruction, jammed pump, or electrical/control problem can produce similar symptoms.
